Educational Philosophy

When children play, they explore their world
and practice the skills that will be
fundamental to their future success.  It is our
job to be a guide for children, responding to
their interests and individual needs.  We
encourage open-ended thinking, trusting the
child to find creative ways to solve their
problems.  We provide developmentally
appropriate curriculum and work to respect
the beliefs and home cultures of all of the
children we care for.  We emphasize social
skills such as self-calming, conflict
management, and politeness. Finally, we make
learning fun.  Children learn best when
learning is enjoyable.
Mission Statement

To provide individualized
care that helps each child
maximize their personal
potential.
Wendy Arnburg

Manager and Co-Teacher

To supplement my current knowledge of best practices in
childcare, I have taken Early Childhood Education courses at
DMACC and Marshalltown Community College.  I have
previously earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Behavior and
Human Services from Grand View College.   In addition to my
college education and continuing early childhood education
classes, I have completed 30 hours of training in Foster Care
and Adoptive Parenting.

I make a difference in the lives of children by providing
quality care in a home environment.  I am responsive to
individual needs and provide educational opportunities
to encourage personal growth.  In my free time, I enjoy
reading, gardening, volunteering at the
Ankeny Izaak Walton League and
spending time outdoors with my family.
Scott

Assistant and Substitute

Scott is the evening assistant and
substitute as needed.  He assists
with clean up and wrapping up the
day.  He works at
Legacy Financial
Group and is married to Wendy.
Amanda Engelhardt

Co-Teacher

I have been with Momma Bear since 2006 as a part time
assistant and substitute provider.  In 2010, my role expanded
to a full time teacher.   In the past, I worked as a private
nanny and center teacher.   In addition to continuing early
childhood education classes, I have completed courses at
DMACC and am working towards my Early Childhood
Education Associate.

I make a difference in the lives of children by educating
them naturally through play. Some of the activities I share
with the children include reading, drawing, painting, singing
and dancing.  In my free time, I enjoy walking, bowling,
roller skating, bicycling, board games and
spending time with my boyfriend and his daughter.
