Neighborhood
Connections

The Oak Park and Highland Park Neighborhoods have many
fantastic learning destinations that we explore as part of our
preschool program.  Our destinations include The North Library,
Aqualand Pet Store, Highland Park Bakery, Linns Supermarket,
Highland Park Hardware, Fareway, Ace Hardware, The Dollar
Tree, Walgreens, Banker's Trust, The Salvation Army Thrift
Store, The Park Fair Post Office, Dairy Queen, and John's
Burgers.  We enjoy learning about the world around us by visiting
the neighborhood.  Our favorite destination is McHenry Park.
Riding in our Turtle Bus 6 seat buggy makes our outings
safe and enjoyable.

We also include occasional field trips outside of our
neighborhood.  With help from parent volunteers we have visited
the Zoo, the Science Center of Iowa, the Botanical Center,
the Central Library, and other downtown locations.

Family
Connections

Each family receives a special
book related to  the theme
presented each month.
Parents are encouraged to
share the book with their
child to make a connection
between preschool and home.
Learning and Playing...

Each month, children will participate in integrated activities
related to an educational theme.  Included are activities to
enhance your child’s language, cognitive, physical, and social
development, as well as creative art materials for each
child.  He or she will also be introduced to concepts related
to literacy, pre-math, problem-solving, colors, and shapes
through a variety of engaging, hands-on activities.   Children
learn best through interacting with their environment and
we strive to present activities with that in mind.
Developmentally appropriate activities will encompass all
areas of your child’s development.
